1. Data Philosophy
At Career Gauge, we believe your professional data is your intellectual property. Our architecture is designed to prioritize data isolation over data collection. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your resume content to train global AI models.
The AI Isolation Protocol
Standard AI tools often "absorb" user data to improve their general models. Career Gauge operates differently:
- Zero Training: Your resume text and Decision Briefs are never contributed to public or private LLM training sets.
- Isolated Inference: Each analysis is processed independently. We store submitted content and generated artifacts only to operate the service, deliver your report, and—if you create an account—save your work; that content is not used to train general models.
- API Privacy: We use Enterprise-tier API agreements with our model providers (OpenAI, Google) which legally prohibit the use of our data for model training.
2. Information We Collect
Content Data
Resume text, Job Descriptions, and "Decision Brief" artifacts. This is the core data required for our agents to function.
Identity Data
Name, email address, and billing information (processed securely via Stripe). We keep this separate from your "Content Data" whenever possible.
3. CareerGauge Chrome Extension
The CareerGauge Chrome extension helps you capture job postings when you invoke it. It does not access Chrome’s browsing-history database or continuously monitor your browsing. When you open the extension, Chrome grants temporary access to the active page so the extension can read its URL and relevant job-posting content.
Detection and preparation
Bounded page inspection, structured extraction, selected-text review, manual editing, and optional supported on-device processing occur locally. After sign-in, the extension may send the job page’s URL, canonical URL, source identifiers, and a deterministic content fingerprint to CareerGauge to check whether the opportunity already exists. This check can occur before you choose Save, but it does not include the raw job description.
Save and analyze
When you explicitly choose Save Job, Save & Analyze, or Save Latest Version, the extension sends the captured job details and description to CareerGauge along with the source URLs and identifiers. The captured job description is not transmitted before that action. Analysis may then use the AI providers described elsewhere in this policy.
The extension handles your account ID and email address, authentication tokens, and short-lived pairing credentials to connect to your CareerGauge account. It stores its independent authentication session, pending connection information, and a bounded local cache of job captures, including their source URLs, in extension-owned browser storage. The capture cache retains at most 50 entries; expired entries are removed when the cache is accessed after their seven-day lifetime. Unconfirmed manual drafts are not persisted in that cache.
The extension itself does not collect analytics. Raw job-description content, resume content, selected text, authentication credentials, and session tokens are not intentionally included in extension telemetry. The website analytics and advertising disclosures below do not authorize sharing extension-derived job content, browsing URLs, or authentication data with advertising services, even if you allow website analytics.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
CareerGauge’s use and transfer of information collected through the Chrome extension comply with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Extension-derived data is used to provide and improve the extension’s disclosed functionality, including related security and reliability operations. It is not sold, used for personalized advertising, or used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes. Transfers to service providers are limited to what is necessary for that functionality; any other use or transfer must fall within the exceptions permitted by the Limited Use requirements.

4. How We Use Your Information
Your data is used strictly for the following purposes:
- Inference: Triggering the LangGraph multi-agent workflows you initiate.
- Persistence: Storing your "Master Resume" so you can analyze multiple jobs without re-uploading.
- Billing: Managing your Capacity Unit (CU) balance and subscription status.
- System Integrity: Detecting and preventing abuse of our AI infrastructure.
5. Third-Party Sub-Processors
We share information necessary to operate CareerGauge with the service providers listed below, according to their role. This may include account information, authentication data, submitted content, and payment information; not all information is anonymized. Each provider receives the information needed for its service, rather than every category listed here. The Chrome extension’s Limited Use commitments above also apply when extension-derived data is processed by our service providers.

6. Analytics and Cookie Preferences
We ask before enabling non-essential browser analytics. If you allow analytics, CareerGauge may use Google Analytics, PostHog, Vercel Analytics, and limited acquisition attribution storage to understand aggregate site and product use. You can reject analytics or change your choice at any time using the “Privacy choices” control in the site footer.
When analytics storage is denied, Google may receive limited cookieless measurement signals through Google Consent Mode. We do not enable PostHog, Vercel Analytics, custom Google Analytics events, Google Ads conversion events, or browser attribution storage until you allow analytics.
7. Data Retention & Deletion

For unauthenticated visitors, uploaded content and generated briefs are purged from our systems after 24 hours.
- Auth:
Registered users retain their data as long as their account is active. You may trigger a "Hard Delete" of all resumes and artifacts via your Account Settings at any time.
8. Your Rights
Whether you are under GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), or other regional privacy laws, we provide the same high standard of rights to all users: the right to access your data, the right to rectify errors, and the "right to be forgotten."
